REFRESHED EXTERIOR, INTERIOR AND MORE POWER HIGHLIGHT CHANGES TO BENTLEY TOURER
Bentley introduced the 2015 Continental GT on Tuesday, showing off upgrades in the powertrain, on-board tech and interior comfort over its predecessor.
Starting with power, as we like to do, the company’s W12 engine gets bumped up from 567 hp and 516 lb-ft to 582 hp and 531 lb-ft. Fuel efficiency is also improved 5 percent while carbon emissions are down. The W12 now comes with a variable displacement system and can run on just six cylinders.
The exterior of the Continental gets a decent refresh. A new front bumper features a smaller radiator shell and bigger fenders. Those fenders get a new vent and a metallic-winged B. New fender badges match the GT Speed and W12 model badges. The back gets a tighter-pulled trunklid and the rear bumper has been widened with more chromework. The V8 S and GT Speed models get a new rear diffuser as well.
Several new wheel choices are offered in 20- and 21-inch designs, and three new colors are offered: metallic blue, soft gold and a light metallic blue, though here they're called Marlin, Camel and Jetstream, respectively.
Inside, the improvements continue with a new pattern on the seats for both the standard and Mulliner range. Driver controls are also new, while larger shift paddles make for easier gearchanges. On the dash, new dials and graphics offer a more contemporary look. The whole cabin is bathed in LED lights, and a new hidden storage compartment is fitted between the rear seats. Buyers can also specify semi-aniline or Alcantara for the seats. Wi-Fi is optional across the range.
The 2015 GT will be unveiled to the public at the Geneva auto show on March 3. Bentley didn’t reveal pricing yet, but the current model starts at about $178,000; the GT Speed comes in at $217,000. Figure the new one will be a touch above that. We’ve contacted Bentley, and we will update when we hear back.
Deliveries begin this summer.
