Land Rover released the details of the 2016 Range Rover Evoque ahead of its world debut at the Geneva auto show. The highlights include five trim levels, full LED adaptive headlights and an 18 percent improvement in overall efficiency.
The sheetmetal gets a slight redesign for 2016. In addition to the new lighting package, the Evoque gets bigger air intakes, a new tailgate spoiler, roof fins and a 3G antenna for improved mobile phone use. The hood vents, previously only on coupe models, are now standard across the range. Three new alloy wheel designs are offered, along with two body kit styles and a full palette of colors for both the roof and the rest of the body. The combinations are nearly endless.
Inside, the Evoque gets new seats, door panels and a redesigned instrument panel. More soft-touch materials are scattered throughout. Standard models come with ebony fabric seats with six-way adjustment; higher trims offer massaging seats with 14-way adjustments. Buyers can choose from 13 color choices; lunar ice and vintage tan are new.
U.S. models will continue with a 2.0-liter gasoline four making 240 hp. That’s good for a 0-62 mph time of 7.6 seconds and 36 mpg on the highway. As for technology, the Evoque gets a new 8-inch InControl touchscreen that allows users to swipe between screens like a smartphone. The six-speaker stereo system can be upgraded with satellite navigation and satellite radio. Upper level trims can specify an 11- or 17-speaker stereo system. A hands-free tailgate can be opened with a wave of a foot.
Deliveries begin in August of 2015; pricing will be announced later, possibly at the Geneva auto show next month.
