Toyota Camry and Corolla Special Editions heading to Chicago Auto Show

LIMITED-EDTION SEDANS GET SPORTY BITS, SAME POWER

Toyota has a couple of special editions lined up for the Chicago Auto Show, as the company prepares to introduce sporty versions of the Camry and the Corolla next week in the Windy City.

The 2016 Camry Special Edition comes with all the SE features and adds new 18-inch wheels, a power moonroof, smoked taillights, blue stitching inside on seats trimmed with SofTex. It also gets new gauges, the Entune audio system and keyless entry.

The Special Edition offers two exterior colors: pearl and metallic blue. Like the rest of the line, it gets motivation from the standard 2.5-liter four making 178 hp and a six-speed automatic transmission. Production begins in August and ends early next year. Only 12,000 examples will be built -- sounds like a lot, but consider Toyota sells that many Camrys roughly every10 days.

The Corolla Special Edition is based on the S Plus trim and adds 17-inch wheels, a black interior with red contrast, red-accented dash, pushbutton start and special edition floormats. The Corolla comes in red, black and white.

The Entune system with navigation and power moonroof are optional. Production will be limited to 8,000 units. Both will debut on Feb. 12.
