MOPAR HOPES TO INCREASE DRIVER SAFETY WITH NEW PROGRAM
The FCA Foundation is sponsoring a defensive driving program -- with the support of Mopar -- for teen drivers in Florida. Teens ages 15-19 with their learner’s permit or drivers license and 30 hours of experience can sign up to be a part of the free “Mopar Road Ready” program.
Mopar collaborated with the National Hot Rod Association Motorsports Museum and BRAKES (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe) to develop the program. An excellent curriculum and instructors from the BRAKES organization will assist students in their hands-on training and classroom education. A parent or guardian has to be present for the companion experience portion of the program.
“Mopar is a brand that cares about and supports all its drivers, especially the youngest,” said Pietro Gorlier, president and CEO of Mopar brand service, parts and customer care. “This is why we’ve teamed with the NHRA Motorsports Museum and BRAKES to offer the ‘Mopar Road Ready’ teen drivers’ initiative. This program allows teenage drivers to safely learn valuable defensive driving skills in a controlled environment.”
There will be a review of essential driving skills such as seat positioning, hand positioning and basic driving rules. After, advanced training will be provided during five on-track courses, including accident avoidance, panic stop, distractions, wheel drop and wet skid pad.
Sessions will be available for students on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22 from 8 a.m to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The program is free, but in order to hold a spot, participants will have to make a $99 deposit that will be returned after the completion of the program.
After Florida, the next stop on the list is Detroit. The “Mopar Road Ready” program will be held in the Motor City May 2-5.
