Ford's Troller debuts new T4 off-road rescue concept

BRAZIL'S RUGGED WRANGLER FIGHTER GETS OFF-ROAD RECOVERY KIT

    Back in June of this year Ford unveiled a new 4x4 in Brazil under the Troller brand, a truck manufacturer that is owned by Ford. The Troller T4 made use of a tried-and-true layout along with a distinctive interior design, reminding us of the early Ford Broncos. And for the Sao Paulo Motor Show, which starts later this week, Ford has brought an even more rugged version of the small 4x4 that we want to see over here.

    Dubbed the Off-Road Rescue Concept, this Troller T4 is equipped with a new off-road bumpers front and back, a winch, 17-inch wheels, LED spot lights, a snorkel for the engine, and high profile off-road tires. Sporting a custom paint job, the Troller T4 Off-Road Rescue Concept also features an upgraded interior, a serious step up from the utilitarian accomodations of the stock T4. Ford says that the Off-Road Rescue Concept has also received a beefed-up suspension with high-performance shock absorbers, in addition to rescue gear in special containers stored in the back.

    A spokesperson for Troller mentioned that the company has already developed special versions for fire services, and that the Off-Road Rescue Concept will used to test customer reaction to a recovery vehicle based on the small 4x4. Troller is also using the Sao Paulo Motor Show to debut a special line of clothing and accessories to go along with th T4.

    The Troller T4 is powered by a 3.2-liter five-cylinder diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and produces 197-hp and an impressive 347 lb-ft of torque. Sales of the Troller T4 so far are limited to South America, and unfortunately there is no way to import a one new into the U.S. privately. Still, we have a feeling that something like this in North America could take on the monopoly of the Jeep Wrangler in this segment if given the chance.
