Honda Fit EV lease price lowered to $199/month

ELECTRIC CAR LEASE PRICE INCLUDES MAINTENANCE, UNLIMITED MILEAGE, COLLISION COVERAGE

Honda lowered the two-year lease price for its Fit EV electric hatchback to $199 per month, from $259, for current customers. Current Fit EV drivers can extend their lease - with unlimited mileage, routine maintenance and collision coverage - if they’d like, while new customers can get the same deal on a used Fit EV.

"Most Fit EV drivers tell us they love their vehicles, and many have requested lease extensions,” said Steve Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office, Honda. "We're very confident in how the vehicles are performing, and look forward to offering new and existing customers a chance to experience everything the Fit EV has to offer."

The all-electric Fit is powered by a 20-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 92-kilowatt electric motor. Miles per gallon equivalent is rated 118 mpge, while EPA driving range comes in at 82 miles. A 6.6-kW onboard charger can fill the battery of the Fit in less than three hours using a 240-volt circuit. It takes about 15 hours, according to Honda, using a household 115-volt outlet.

Current lessees will be contacted by Honda before the lease ends. Prospective buyers can contact Honda through any of the normal channels.

As far as smaller electric vehicles go, $199 seems to be a fair price point. The Ford C-Max Energi plug-in costs the same, as does the Nissan Leaf. On the other hand, both of those require a sizable down payment; the Fit EV does not.
