CUSTOM TUNER MUSTANG ON SALE NOW FOR $73,214
In August, we saw tuning house Saleen introduce the FourSixteen, a tuned and styled Tesla Model S, at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Three months later, the company was nearly out of money. But apparently, the rumors of its demise were greatly exaggerated. Now the company has introduced the Saleen 302 Black Label Mustang, to join its White and Yellow labels. We know the car above is painted yellow, but this is in fact the 730-hp Black Label.
Saleen got that extra power by slapping a twin-screw supercharger onto Ford’s already-lovely Coyote V8. It delivers 600 lb-ft of twist to get you off the line, as long as you’re on 91-octane gas.
“From the beginning of this project, we have always known that we wanted to create the most powerful production Mustang we have ever built,” said Sven Etzelsberger, Saleen vice president of engineering. “I can happily say that we have accomplished this goal with great success.”

Saleen says the Black Label outperforms the previous generation not only with power, but also with handling, thanks to the new independent rear suspension setup of the 2015 Mustang. Saleen adds its own S4 springs, shocks, sway bars and bushings. A set of 15-inch rotors with multi-piston brakes slows things down. All four corners get 20-inch tires -- but at slightly staggered aspect ratios. Saleen five-spoke rims are offered in several finishes.
The company lengthens the Black Label 1.5 inches in front and 2 inches in back, which Saleen says increases downforce over the entire vehicle. A new rear wing and front splitter are added, along with a selection of carbon-fiber body components.
Inside, buyers are treated to leather and suede trim, special Saleen badges and a unique Saleen VIN.
The Black Label is on sale now for $73,214, which includes the price of a new Mustang; a deposit of $2,015 will get the company to hold one for you. Go to saleen.com for more information.
