Order books have opened for Volkswagen's trio of new estates, including the hot diesel GTD and storming Golf R
Car companies usually launch one or two major new models at a time, but Volkswagen has hit the jackpot by announcing order books have today opened for all three of it's new Golf Estatevariants. The Golf Alltrack, GTD and R estates are now on sale, with first deliveries in August.
The two hottest new Golfs are very different propositions. The 181bhp GTD estate is a load-lugging version of the front-wheel drive diesel GTD hatchback, while the R estate is a 296bhp four-wheel drive turbo petrol that can storm from 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds.
The GTD estate starts at £28,285 for the six-speed manual gearbox, and rises to £29,700 for the six-speed DSG automatic. The Golf R estate kicks off at £33,385 and is only available with the six-speed DSG.
Alongside these hot models stealing the limelight is the rugged new Golf Alltrack. Similar in concept to the Skoda Octavia Scout, the 4MOTION four-wheel drive small estate sits underneath thePassat Alltrack and starts at £26,790 with the 109bhp 1.6 TDI diesel.
