All-new VW Touran spied ahead of its launch next year, with a fresh design and cleaner engines
These are the first pictures of the 2015 Volkswagen Touran as this heavily disguised prototype was spied undergoing testing. Volkswagen’s new MPV will arrive sometime next year and adopt the same boxy proportions as its predecessor but is likely to be based on the familiar MQB architecture to help shed weight.
In terms of design, there are very few details we can pick out due to the extensive use of camouflage used to hide the body. There is a noticeable crease running along the flank, however, which should help break up the boxy stance employed by the current model. A close-up shot of the headlight also reveals an LED lamp cluster could be fitted.
We can also expect the new Touran to be based on the versatile MQB architecture, which underpins a large proportion of models from the VW Group. It also means the updated and efficient engines from the smaller Golf can be carried over. There’ll be a range of petrol motors from launch, with the diesel engines likely to make up the bulk of sales.
A fully-fledged Bluemotion model is also predicted to be made available, which could return up to 70mpg. There is still no news on a launch date or cost but a price tag around the current £19,500 entry-level model is to be expected.
