Infiniti Concept Vision debuts in 'Gran Turismo 6'

Mid-engine stunner hits the virtual streets

    The Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turimso is available for download now in PlayStation 3’s “Gran Turismo 6” driving simulator. The company joins Mercedes, Chevy, Toyota and others in creating a drivable concept for the popular game.

   The company wanted to design a “pure Infiniti GT car.” The sheetmetal was penned by Infiniti’s design team in Beijing. The process started with hand sketching, according to Infiniti, then refined digitally, refined again by hand sculpting and then finally returned to digital.

    Infiniti says the project is more difficult than a simple design exercise. The team had to figure out technical features like aerodynamics and engine performance, resulting in a front mid-ship powertrain that keeps the balance at 45:55 front/rear. Power is said to come from a 4.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8 and one electric motor, which kicks in torque at low speeds.

    It also has under-floor aerodynamics, front and back diffusers and a sculpted spoiler that Infiniti says “enables this car to demonstrate high performance without compromising the impact of the body design.”
